Gosh it is so refreshing to be working at full and normal weddings again this year! 2022 has started off with a bang! I recently found myself in the beautiful Bellingham Castle in County Louth, just a short distance from Dublin city. Nicola and Adrian had booked me many moons ago and after postponing a number of times, they finally had the most incredible day on the 18th of March.

I had only met this lovely pair on zoom, which we all know is not the same as meeting in person. We clicked immediately!  Nicola was full of laughter along with her two gorgeous bridesmaids, one being her sister Celine and another her best friend Orla. The girls were a perfect mix of giddy, relaxed and stunningly beautiful, a total pleasure to be with and photograph on the morning of the wedding. Everything took place in Nicolas’s home in Ashbourne with a fantastic team, Joanne Kelly O’Hara Making the girls’ hair look incredible, and Lisa Shannon doing beautiful make-up.

It makes such a difference to have a team of professionals on board for your wedding day who get along with each other and who are relaxed and friendly enough to make you feel comfortable on the day. I could’ve sat there all morning just chatting to all the girls and soaking up the atmosphere, but there was more work to be done!
I drove the short distance down to Ashbourne church to meet Adrian and the boys and he was also a beaming-groom!! Sure why wouldn’t he be, marrying this gorgeous girl!

Everybody gathered outside the front of the church in the sunshine chatting and catching up with each other. The atmosphere was terrific!
Nicola pulled up in a beautiful Rolls-Royce with her father and after taking a couple of shots outside the front of the church she made her way inside. After a beautiful ceremony, everybody gathered outside wishing Nicola and Adrian well before heading back to Bellingham Castle to celebrate.

When we arrived at Bellingham Castle the Sun was still shining and the weather was warm enough to do photographs outside. We started with some gorgeous shots on the driveway with Bellingham Castle in the background and Nicola and Adrian walked hand-in-hand with a glass of champagne as the sun shone down on them.

We took a little walk down the steps and in towards the garden, over the bridge with the backdrop of Bellingham Castle behind us. The bridal party followed us down with champagne, and after capturing some nice portraits of them we went back inside where Nicola and Adrian took a break from photos and I wandered about the house capturing people chatting and drinking champagne and listening to gorgeous music.

After a short while we did some lovely family photos out near the stone pergola which was perfect for more beautiful wedding pictures. The sunshine on the day was absolutely outstanding, it seemed to be in the right place throughout the day and for every picture, creating sun flare and beautiful backlight in a lot of the wedding pictures. It was an absolute joy to photograph this wedding! Thanks to my lovely pal Richard Finlay who is an amazing videographer and was a pleasure to work with on the day. It is great to work with a videographer who is laid back and relaxed, but who also produces incredible work!

I’m attaching some favourite images here in this grid.
